On macOS you can also install gcc by installing the xcode developer tools if you're not using Homebrew.

On macOS grep
is aliased to grep --color=auto --exclude-dir={.bzr,CVS,.git,.hg,.svn,.idea,.tox}
.
If you want to use GNU grep (brew install grep
), all commands (grep
, egrep
and fgrep
) are installed with the prefix "g". If you need to use these commands with their normal names, add this to your .zshrc
:
PATH="$HOMEBREW_PREFIX/opt/grep/libexec/gnubin:$PATH"
